This week it’s a solo episode, and I’m taking a second look at the Minnesota Starvation Experiment. Recently, I came across two papers that followed up on the experiment, and I’m reviewing them today, and chatting about the new information they contain.

Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for recording this episode, it was very helpful. Especially the last part gave me hope. I am happy to gain some insight into what happened to these men without ed attitudes. Because in many ways an eating disorder diagnosis doesn’t apply to me (doctors always argued I had anorexia, specialists disagreed. After years of going back in forth the label I got is atypical anorexia). I think I am more like these men, than like most eating disorder sufferers. The only difference is that I am not forced to restrict my food intake, I am fully aware of my control in this and yet I can’t get myself to eat sufficiently/take care of myself. There’s one thing I wanted to mention though. I have spend a lot of time in eating disorder treatment with other patients. With them I also see a lot of concern for food being wasted, even when they hide or throw away food themselves.
