It’s been a while, but I decided to create a new video.
It deals with people’s misconceptions around calories and what the body really needs to support itself.

Episode 87: Energy Flux
Episode 114: Weight Set Point

Hey Suzanna: The Biggest Loser contestants could repair their metabolisms give enough time but this doesn’t mean that they are then going to lose weight and make into the “normal” BMI range. They just become healthier and their weight may or may not change.
Hey C: Thanks for the comment, I’m happy to hear the video was helpful.
So, I guess you’d say the biggest loser contestants could repair their metabolisms given enough time?
This was seriously helpful for me. I’ve bookmarked it to “remind” myself. I recovered from HA two years ago, but have definitely see-sawed a lot with my orthorexia. I still have this set calorie number in my mind (1800) and more often than not am counting and planning around that number (600 per meal!) instead of listening to my hunger cues. This was eye opening, especially as the woman in your first example is very similar to me, with over 2500 calories! It’s ridiculous. I know I need to let go, and let go of the fear. I’m pretty active as well (I do kickboxing twice a week and strength training 3 times, plus my job can get pretty active and I’m a naturally ‘fidgety’ person). I have all the symptoms of undernourshing but tend to ignore them as I’m still cycling (albeit irregularly). Anywho…good inspiration and kick in the butt. Thank you, Chris.
Wow, what an eye-opening video! Thank you for this, what is the app you were using in the video?

Chris
You said something that troubled me a bit. I’ve had eating disorders since I was nine. Mainly bulimia. Chronic under eating. Say I increase and gain weight. Will my metabolism eventually turn back to what it’s supposed to be? I’m 5’5 125 pounds. I eat between 1500 to 1800 calories a day. I have been eating that and much less for 20 years. I’m trying to heal my HA so I’m gradually going to 2500 but now I’m terrified I’ll never have a normal metabolism because all my body will do is gain fat.
