We look at what are stools made up of and their function in the body. We cover how often you should be going, what the consistency should be and other characteristics of good stool health. And then I also look at other ideas that are related to gut health, like stress, reproductive hormones, fibre, probiotics, squatting, and much more.

Hi Chris – thank you for this great podcast packed with important info! One related subject maybe worth mentioning in relation to constipation (and also body image/eating issues?) is the many problems associated with the frequent use of laxatives?
This is so true. I went from being health conscious where I felt AMAZING and my gut health was great, to over dieting where I started having gut issues, to trying to correct it by following methods that may not be appropriate for my body which has lead to more gut issues. I am now trying to correct back to my health conscious way of eating. What is interesting is that my body image issues are lessened when I am being health conscious and eating a diet high in veggies versus any other form of diet (I am genetically likely to be in the overweight to obese on the BMI scale). I wonder if that has anything to do with the gut bacteria and the inherent nervous system connection…
Chris this was a great podcast! I really appreciate the work and research you put into it. Question-What are your thoughts from working with clients on using magnesium supplements (like Oxy-powder) to loosen stools? Also what are your thoughts on using suppositories for elimination support? Thank you!!
